FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Our team are here to help answer any questions or concerns you may have about laser hair removal treatments. Please read the FAQs below or
get in touch
for anything we haven't covered.
How many hair removal sessions will I need?
Between 6 and 10 sessions is generally recommended for full effect. Laser hair removal is most effective during the anagen phase (active growth), which varies depending on the area being treated.
Do I need a consultation appointment before treatment?
Yes. Please book a consultation so we can discuss the best course of treatment for you.
How long should I wait between treatments?
For face
We recommend 4 weeks between treatments.
For upper body
We recommend 5-6 weeks between treatments.
For lower body
We recommend 6-8 weeks between treatments.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR TREATMENT?
For body treatments
For laser hair removal, it's best to wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing that won't rub against the treated area. This helps prevent irritation and allows for easy access to the treatment area. If you're having a Bikini area treatment, consider wearing loose, breathable underwear, like cotton.
Should I shave before a laser treatment?
Yes – by shaving the treatment area beforehand, you provide the laser technician with a clean canvas for precise targeting. This is particularly crucial for areas with varying hair lengths, ensuring that the laser can effectively reach the hair follicles without interference from longer hairs.
Do not wax or tweeze because the laser targets the pigment in the hair. If no hair is present due to plucking, the laser treatment will not be effective. You’ll end up growing the waxed hair in the treatment area after a few days.
Schedule your laser hair removal appointment at least four weeks after your last waxing or tweezing session.
Why are there male and female treatments?
Separate hair removal treatments for men and women exist due to differences in hair thickness, density, and hormonal influences.
Men generally have thicker, denser hair growth, requiring more laser energy or stronger depilatory creams to achieve the same results as women.
Additionally, men's skin can be thicker, potentially affecting laser efficacy and neccesating adjustments.
Will I need ongoing maintenance treatments?
Consistency is key – this allows us to target the hair at the most effective stage of growth. A top-up session may be needed once or twice a year.
What happens during the treatment?
When you enter Aurah for hair removal treatment, please expect the following steps:
Preparation
Before the actual procedure, our specialist will check your skin. We will also adjust the laser setting of our equipment to match your skin and hair type.
Cleaning
Next, your therapist will clean the area and give it a quick shave if necessary. We will also ask you to wear protective eyewear to shield your eyes against the laser beams.
Laser application
Once everything is all set, we will start applying the laser to the treatment area. You should expect a snapping sensation, which is somewhat similar to a rubber band being snapped on your skin.
Cooling
After each laser pulse, we cool your skin using xxxxxxx. This helps reduce the swelling and redness after the procedure.
After the treatment, you can be given an anti-inflammatory cream, lotion, or ice pack to reduce discomfort.
Take note that mild side effects like swelling, redness, and tenderness in the treated area are expected. This will subside after a day or two with proper aftercare.
